Upload LAS File - Click "Load LAS File" to import your point cloud data.
Find the Floor - The floor is detected automatically using the histogram on the right side. You can adjust it manually if needed.
Isolate the Stockpile - Use "Resize" and "Rotate" to position the bounding box around your stockpile. Make sure no roof or ceiling is included inside the box.
Generate Mesh - Click "Generate Mesh" to create a surface from the points inside the bounding box.
Smooth Mesh (optional) - If the mesh is too rough, click "Smooth Mesh" to refine it.
Calculate Volume - Click "Calculate Volume" to compute the stockpile volume above the base plane.
How volume is calculated: The volume is computed as the space between the bottom of the bounding box (the base plane) and the generated mesh surface. This is why it's important to position the bottom of the bounding box at floor level - it defines the reference plane from which the stockpile height is measured.
Settings Reference
Bounding Box Controls
Rotate - Rotate the bounding box around the vertical axis to align with your stockpile.
Resize - Drag the handles to adjust the box dimensions and position.
Meshing Settings
Grid Resolution - Higher values create a finer mesh with more detail but take longer to compute.
Max Slope Angle - Points with slopes steeper than this angle are excluded (helps remove walls and vertical surfaces).
Smooth Mesh - Applies Laplacian smoothing to reduce noise in the generated mesh.
Volume Calculation
Base Height - The reference plane height for volume calculation. The volume is computed between this plane and the mesh surface above it.
Use Box Bottom as Base - When checked, uses the bottom of the bounding box as the base height.
Display Options
Hide points outside box - Only shows points inside the bounding box for clearer visualization.
Show grid - Toggles the ground grid visibility.
Point Opacity - Adjusts the transparency of the point cloud.
Point Size - Changes the size of individual points.
View Controls
Parallel/Perspective - Toggle between orthographic (parallel) and perspective camera views.
Top/Front/Side - Quick preset views aligned to the bounding box. Click again to flip to the opposite view.
Mouse Controls - Left-click drag to rotate, right-click drag to pan, scroll to zoom.
